In October 2001, ESA's French woman astronaut Claudie Andre-Deshays, will be travelling to the International Space Station on a Soyouz taxi flight -- the same opportunity used these days by the US American Dennis Tito.
This programme items includes a presentation of Ms Andre-Deshays, and new footage of her training for this mission in Star City, as well as images of her Perseus mission to Mir, in 1996. The 4-minute A-roll is complemented by a 10-minute B-roll.

They are also made to practise the approach to the Space Station again and again in the simulator. This is a procedure of which Claudie Andr?-Deshays has real-life experience. In August 1996 the French ESA astronaut took part in a research mission on the Space Station MIR.

Claudie's work includes a large number of biomedical experiments. With the Cogni Lab, she carried out experiments into how weightlessness affects perception. With the loss of gravity, the body also loses crucial information. We no longer feel weight when standing or sitting, but we need this feedback to orient ou
