This 21 December ESA astronaut André Kuipers will fly from Baikonur to the ISS for a six months mission. The orbital outpost is in its 11th year of continuous human occupation. With the major construction phase over, astronauts are able to devote more of their time to carrying out experiments and routine maintenance procedures. This story recalls what ESA is doing with ISS with interview of former astronaut Thomas Reiter now Director of Human Spaceflight and Operations at ESA.
