The Space industry is one of the most fertile breeding grounds for technology development. 20 years ago the European Space Agency set up its Technology Transfer Programme to capitalize on this know-how from Space to benefit European citizens. The programme has a network of brokers across Europe whose job it is to find companies that can profit from these technologies and bring them together with the Space experts. To further this drive for the transfer and commercialization of space technologies a strategy was put in place to encourage entrepreneurship and new business development with the setting up of the first ESA Business Incubation Centre at ESTEC.
