CEBREROS About a hundred kilometres west of Madrid lies the Sierra de Gredos.. and hidden in the landscape is a massive white satellite dish. Valeriano Claros, a space telecommunications specialist, can often be spotted driving his four by four to the top of the hill overlooking the Cebreros site where he's infrastructure manager. I Itís here that the European Space Agency ESA built it's second major satellite tracking centre. Itís crucial for deep space missions, sending instructions to spacecraft up to 900 million kilometres away AND receiving signals that have travelled tens of millions of kilometres.
